Angelina – Paris, France
January 3, 2017
Tis the season for hot chocolate. Personally, it’s always the right time for hot chocolate, or cold for that matter.
If you find yourself in Paris during this winter (or whenever… perhaps you’ve decided to move there due to the corrupt political climate here in the states) you must go to Angelina for some chocolat chaud. I mean, chocolate makes everything better, right?
Angelina first opened in 1903 and has since been an iconic tea house and must go to spot, even if it is a bit of a tourist trap. Located in the 1st ARR, it is literally across the street from the famous Jardin des Tuileries.
They are known for Le Chocolat Chaud a l’ancienne dit l’Africain.
Made up of three different cocoas from Niger, Ghana, and Cote d’Ivorie, it is one of the most decadent hot chocolate I have ever had. Rich and dark, it’s like drinking liquid velvet.
We ordered a Pain Au Chocolate.
And Cafe Viennois aka espresso and whipped cream.
Angelina is a definite must go to spot for a chocolate lover. You will be swept away into the past with their beautiful turn of the century decor. I pretended I was in the movie “Gigi”.
