Galerie Lafayette – Paris
December 20, 2016
I have been to the mother ship of department stores and foodie specialty shops. There’s no going back for me. I have seen God.
La Galerie Lafayette is stunning and incredible to behold, started in 1896 it is everything I love and hate about this world. It reminds you that you are either part of the haves or have-nots. I literally felt like I stepped into the Hunger Games Capital.
I’m not gonna lie, I succumbed to the old world extravagance and bought a sweatshirt. In the children’s dept.
Don’t judge me.
La Galerie Lafayette also has across the street from the department store side the equivalent of a foodie food court like here in NYC. Akin to Mario Batali’s Eataly, this place is just as awesome if not better because let’s be real, it’s in Paris. Lafayette Gourmet.
They have everything here. From gourmet chocolate eclairs to dim sum, a girl could die happy here. If the world comes to an end (thanks, Trump) you’ll find me holed up in this joint eating myself to a gluttonous end.
There’s even a grocery store on the lower level along with a few more restaurants.
We ate at their Ristorante.
We had a Margarita Mozzarella Buffalo pizza.
Marriage Freres, a very famous tea house, even has a pop up at Lafayette Gourmet.
Of course, I bought some tea to take back home to the states.
Rose Tea. Simple and beautiful.
Last but not least we stopped at L’eclair de Genie.
This eclair genie granted us three wishes:
Chocolate Grand Cru
Pousse Pousse Chocolate
Caramel Buerre Salé
Dear lord, they were so good. Truly a must eat.
Galerie Lafayette may be a tourist trap, which is something I usually detest, but there’s history at this extravaganza and the old world charm of Paris which no other place in the world has.
