Basic Banana Foster

Basic Banana Foster

Many Banana Foster recipe’s call for Banana Liquor. Personally, I don’t think it needs it. I mean, besides Banana Foster what the hell are you going to use Banana Liquor for? I think it’s a waste of money and quite unnecessary. I tried making Banana Foster sans the Banana Liquor the other day, and guess what? You don’t need it. As long as you have a nice dark rum you’ll be fine, and the best part about Banana Foster is you get to flambe the bananas. Yay fire!

Yields: 2 - 3 Servings

  • 1 - 2 sticks of butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 - 3 bananas
  • 1/2 cup dark rum
  • 2 - 3 teaspoons cinnamon

Melt the butter in a cast iron skillet on a medium heat

Add in the cinnamon and brown sugar, mix with a wooden spoon to combine

Place sliced bananas into sauce.

Cook until soft.

Pour in rum.

Light a match and set bananas on fire. Be sure to remove your hand quickly from the flames.

Remove skillet from flame.

Serve bananas over vanilla ice cream. Boom. Enjoy!
